When you spend $525 on a blender, you expect near-miracles regarding performance. Well, in terms of blending power, this Vitamix Series 300 exceeded my expectations: It makes smoothie-type blends so quickly, it's astonishing. Has abundant power, is reasonably quiet (but certainly makes plenty of noise while doing its job). The cleanup process, as advertised and suggested, is also quick and easy. The speed doesn't sound any faster from settings 5-10, but customer service says you'll notice a difference when doing heavy blender loads. Regardless, ice cubes, frozen berries, etc., all submitted to pulverization at remarkably low speeds in record time. I like the blender's more squat form factor and the container / lid are convenient. The controls are a bit quirky, in particular the need to reset the speed dial to 1 in order to maintain safety...but this is easily remembered / remedied. The instructional DVD is helpful if a bit too focused on recipes versus blender operation...
